Product Highlights

Built for Firefighters, Designed for Emergency Victim Rescue

Engineered specifically for fire rescue operations, the Dräger PARAT 5550 is a high-performance fire escape hood housed in a durable, flame-retardant holster. Its standout advantage lies in its official EN 137:2006, Type 2 system approval, allowing it to be used seamlessly alongside Dräger self-contained breathing apparatuses (SCBA) during critical victim extractions.

"Ready to Act" Design

Dräger elevates emergency victim rescue by offering an EN 137:2006 (Type 2) and EN 403:2004 system-certified combination of SCBA, fire escape hood, and protective holster. Mounted directly onto the breathing apparatus, the PARAT 5550 remains securely out of the way to preserve the firefighter's full range of motion until needed. Its immediate availability enables rapid deployment, minimizing delays and safeguarding the victim during evacuation.

Constant Preparedness for Emergency Rescue Operations

Uncertain environments demand constant readiness. The Dräger PARAT 5550 delivers a minimum of 15 minutes of reliable defense against lethal fire gases (including CO), toxic vapors, and dangerous particles. Designed to be carried on every mission, it protects rescued individuals instantly and serves as a life-saving backup if a firefighter's own air line is ever interrupted.

Simple Opening, Intuitive Operation Under Pressure

The Dräger PARAT 5550 system makes carrying, opening, and donning the escape hood straightforward during high-stress operations. Rescuers simply open the holster, slide out the foil pouch, and tear it along the perforated edge—a seamless motion even while wearing heavy firefighter gloves. The hood can then be quickly placed on the victim, guided by a clear, easy-to-follow pictogram printed right on the unit.

Long Service Life for Maximum Cost Efficiency

With an 8-year service life, the Dräger PARAT 5550 minimizes total cost of ownership while delivering reliable readiness. Internal filter plugs protect the filtration media during storage, ensuring the unit remains fully operational over time. The filter's expiration date is clearly readable through the outer foil pouch for fast, low-effort maintenance inspections—and even if the pouch is accidentally punctured, the built-in plugs keep the filter safely sealed.
